City of Ocoee Memorial Day Ceremony

Fri, May 25, 11:00am – 01:00pm

Location:

Bill Breeze Park
125 N. Lakeshore Dr
Ocoee, FL 34761

The city is pleased to welcome Cadet Captain Damarius Maxwell as its keynote speaker.  Cadet Captain Maxwell is a junior at Ocoee High School and at 17, he will be the youngest person to deliver remarks at a city event.  Cadet Maxwell, an Ocoee native, is a third year cadet in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.  He participates in several clubs and organizations including the high school singing group, Excalibur. His hobbies include volunteer work, singing, gaming and aviation. He’s also an avid drone pilot and member of the dual enrollment program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  Cadet Maxwell’s goal is to become a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force.

The ceremony is open to the public and will honor veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The national anthem will be sung by Chloe Rogenus, a senior at Ocoee High School.  The Ocoee Police Department Honor Guard will present the flag and “Taps” will be played. Mayor Rusty Johnson and the City Commissioners will lead a processional to the Ocoee Memorial Wall where a wreath will be set in place.  The Memorial Wall is inscribed with the names of Ocoee residents who gave their lives for freedom. The elected officials will recite the names of each fallen soldier.
