Orange County 2020 Charter Review Commission (CRC) Public Hearing for District 1

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 6:00pm at Dr. Phillips High School (6500 Turkey Lake Road, Orlando, FL 32819).

What is the CRC? Orange County voters decided to adopt the charter form of government in 1986. A charter is a document that spells out the powers, duties and structures of government and the rights of the citizens. It is often compared to constitutions at the local level. Every four years, a new charter review is conducted by a commission appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The CRC is the reviewing group.

What does the CRC do? The CRC is not allowed to change the charter. Instead, it decides what questions, if any, to put on the ballot during the general presidential election. In order to determine potential questions, the CRC conducts regular monthly business/full CRC meetings, establishes committees and holds at least 4 advertised district public hearings at various locations throughout Orange County. Each meeting provides an opportunity for testimony from constitutional officers, county officials and staff, members of the public and other interested parties.
