The Education Awards honor exemplary students throughout West Orange County. Awards are presented in the following categories:

The Danniel J. Petro Scholarship is provided through the West Orange Foundation, Inc. and administrated by the West Orange Chamber of Commerce. The scholarship fund was established to make it possible for eligible students from local high schools to further their education at Valencia College (any campus), Orange Technical College, or the University of Central Florida. The West Orange Foundation is able to fund the scholarships through the generous contributions of the Petro Family Foundation.

W.O.P.T.E. is a program of the West Orange Foundation sponsored by Bright Future Electric and Walmart and facilitated by the West Orange Chamber of Commerce. The primary vision of the W.O.P.T.E. program is to raise the awareness of our youth regarding the West Orange County business community and all that it has to offer. With increased awareness of the area, it is hoped that the local 11th grade students will be better informed regarding career opportunities. W.O.P.T.E. partnered with Junior Achievement of Central Florida to present the JA Be Entrepreneurial and JA Job Shadow programs in which students gained a better understanding of entrepreneurship. Thank you to June Engineering for providing transportation for the students field trips.

STUDENTS OF ACHIEVEMENT & RENOWN (S.O.A.R.)

Students of Achievement and Renown is an award of merit presented by the West Orange Chamber of Commerce. Students in 5th, 8th and 11th grades are recognized for their initiative, good citizenship, commitment and personal growth in the classroom. Traditionally, SOAR award winners are recognized at the Education Awards and receive a medallion compliments of Trophies Unlimited. Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic we were unable to present these awards to the students in person this year and as such the students received a S.O.A.R. award certificate in the mail. WOCC also requested that the award winners send a picture of themselves holding their award certificate so that we could announce and congratulate them on our social media. Even with the unusual circumstances this year, WOCC was still able to honor and recognize more than 30 West Orange Chamber member schools and their nominated students.
