Central Florida Expressway Authority Looks to Build a Connector road in Horizon West

comments | Read Comments

Since August 2018, the West Orange Chamber of Commerce has participated as a member of the project advisory group for Central Florida Expressway Authority(CFX) for the possibility of a limited access toll road to connect US 27 to State Road 429.  The most recent study back in 2007 anticipated the need for several east-west connectors to relieve traffic on Hwy 50 and US 192, with a toll road being an option.

The purpose of this current study is to determine alternative alignments and if one is economically and environmentally feasible. The Chamber, even though we are supportive of connector roads in Horizon West, has not taken a position on any alignment.

The alignments are now available for public view with the corridor designated as Porter Road on the north and Old YMCA Road on the south. The majority of this proposed road is in Lake County.

At the conclusion of this study process, a specific corridor alignment will be suggested by the CFX team, as well as the possibility of a "no build" scenario.  The CFX Board of Directors will ultimately make the decision to build or not to build in late summer.

For full information on this study and the opportunity for public input, visit https://www.cfxway.com/agency-information/plans-studies/project-studies/lake-orange-co-connector-pde . A public meeting will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Bridgewater Middle School in Horizon West.
