Did you know that there is a designated day to celebrate your Chamber of Commerce? Annually, the third Wednesday in October is recognized as Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day. The first Chamber of commerce was formed in 1599 in France, and in 1768, 20 New Your City merchants founded the first American chamber of commerce.
Today, chambers of commerce are important parts of every community in which they are located. While chambers are not a government institution, and therefore have no authority or direct role in the writing or passage of laws, chambers frequently advocate for laws that are favorable to the businesses and communities they serve. Through promoting local businesses, providing learning opportunities for professional development, advocating, and providing networking opportunities for business owners and leaders, chambers of commerce help build up the community.
The West Orange Chamber is proud to work for and represent the West Orange business community as your unifying voice and act as a catalyst for developing opportunities for our members. We understand that we wouldn’t be in existence if it weren’t for our members’ support and investment in this organization and the continued commitment of our dedicated volunteers: the board of directors, the committee members and the beloved Ambassadors . So, yes, Wednesday, October 16 is officially Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day, yet, to the WOCC, that translates to Support Your Local Chamber and its Members’ Day. Let’s practice supporting one another every day and investing in one another. Together, we can build an even bigger and better network of strong business that continue to enhance the West Orange Community!
