Chairman’s Article Jan 2022
I am thankful and honored to represent the West Orange Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as the 2022 Chairman. Through the leadership of Stina D’Uva, the Chamber’s President & CEO, we will celebrate our 50th Anniversary this year. We have a new look with our revised logo that is paired with a continued enthusiasm to work as the collective voice for business leadership and community partnerships that advances a positive eco-system for the West Orange Community.
I am very grateful to our Immediate-Past Chairwoman, Camille Evans (Virtus LLP), for her leadership and passion in serving our members throughout 2021. In addition to Camille, our Executive Committee is once again an outstanding group of members ready to lead us in 2022. I’m excited to welcome John McReynolds (Universal Orlando) to the Executive Committee as the Chairman-Elect. Dr. Kim Hardy (UCF) was reinstated as the Treasurer and Paul McNamara (Reed Nissan) was reinstated as the Human Resources Director. Along with our outstanding Board of Directors, we will work hard to serve the West Orange Chamber of Commerce’s members to advance our community, collaboration, and leadership.
While we all recognize the disruption of a global pandemic is still very much part of our lives, I’m enthusiastic about all the growth and opportunity for this community. Now more than ever, we need our chamber members to continue supporting each other through these challenging times. Be mindful of when you can positively impact another member who may need your business. We are a strong group of members from all different sectors and sizes that are here to assist each other. Lean in as a member to join us for Chamber events and learn about the needs of our community. And I’m hopeful you reach out to the Chamber staff, myself, or a Board Member for anything the Chamber can do for you.
Personally, I have lived in West Orange County for over 10 years, I have three children in our public schools, and I’ve been working for the Orlando Magic for the last 16 years. I believe in the power of partnership our Chamber delivers, and I’m invested in seeing our business community continue to grow in the right direction for the future of West Orange. I have learned from so many members that have been here longer than I have, and I am dedicated about honoring our history during our 50th Anniversary and building for our future!
Beyond anything else, I’m excited to serve our Chamber and be alongside our Chamber staff to provide value to every member. The West Orange Chamber of Commerce has been strong for 50 years due to the strength and commitment of our members. I’m hopeful we can all work together to make 2022 an incredible year and continue to grow together.
Sincerely,
J.T. McWalters
