West Orange Chamber of Commerce is closely monitoring the outbreak of the respiratory illness caused by a coronavirus known as COVID-19. In accordance with the guidelines set forth by the State of FL and Governor Ron Desantis, the WOCC team has increased precautionary protocols and communications.

We have decided to cancel all our upcoming events through the end of March including Business After Hours, Networking Groups, Chamber Connections, and others. We are doing our best to reschedule these functions. We will keep our chamber members and the community updated accordingly through our website and Facebook page. Our largest event of the year, Best Fest has a new date: October 8th.

Events may be halted for now, but other Chamber operations will continue as we navigate through this situation. Now is the time to support and do business with one another; please visit our Business Directory for a full list of Chamber members.

We love the work we do here, and we believe in the importance and value of it – but it is not worth risking lives. We will continue to monitor the situation and make announcements about additional events when or if there is a need.

For our businesses, here’s an important resource, provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration, to get you through potentially difficult financial situations due to this crisis.

There are still ways to conduct business in innovative ways. Our friends at the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce made this cheeky but informative guide to saying hello without a handshake.

Everyone is urged to practice safety measures to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses including:

  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid handshakes and hugs. Elbow bumps are encouraged.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Thank you for doing your part to ensure the health and safety of our community.
