ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Duke Energy Florida named Sharon Arroyo vice president of government and community relations, effective Feb. 16. Arroyo succeeds Melissa Seixas, who recently became the Florida state president. Arroyo will report to Seixas in this new role.

Arroyo will lead the Florida government and community relations team and direct the company’s efforts to further strengthen relationships with county, community, civic organizations and business leaders in order to best meet their needs.

Arroyo has been with the company for nearly 34 years in positions of increasing responsibility. For the past five years, she has served as the regional director of large account management and previously worked in various managing roles within transmission construction, substation engineering, and finance.

Arroyo earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of South Florida. Sharon serves on the board for United Arts of Central Florida and is the chair of the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools. She has been a resident of the Central Florida area for 24 years.
