OCOEE, Fla. – Due to the inclement weather from Tropical Storm Eta, the groundbreaking ceremony for the City of Ocoee’s new City Hall has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 17 at 3 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the construction site located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Bluford Avenue and McKey Street. The site for the new facility is just two blocks south of the current Ocoee City Hall. The public is invited to attend. Masks and social distancing will be required.

The new City Hall is a central part of the city’s historic downtown redevelopment masterplan. The three-story building will provide an efficient, modern space for people to engage in business with the city. With 46,552 square feet, the structure will bring city services under one roof with extra space to accommodate future growth.  The $21,993,942 project is expected to be completed by May 2022.

The development on the corner of McKey and Bluford Avenue, demonstrates the city’s commitment to revitalizing downtown Ocoee. The city is also creating a vibrant downtown passive park designed with a pond, boardwalk and interpretive signage that will accommodate the drainage requirements for the new City Hall. Other plans include transforming the west Oakland Avenue streetscape with a trail situated in a landscaped median that connects to the city’s recently renovated Lakeshore Park. All of these improvements will add to the ambiance of the Bluford Avenue corridor.
