In order to best meet community needs and reinforce its commitment to the central Florida region; Duke Energy has added a new member to its Florida-based government and community relations team.

On July 19, Lisa Curran joined Duke Energy Florida as the new government and community relations manager for Orange and Osceola counties. In her new role, Curran works to foster relationships with county, community, and civic organizations across the two counties.

“Lisa’s industry knowledge and deep ties within the central Florida region will serve her well in this role,” said Sharon Arroyo, Duke Energy Florida’s vice president of government and community relations. “Central Florida is one of our fastest-growing areas and it is important for us to add a team member that will continue to meet the growing needs of our customers and enhance our partnership with the business community.”

Curran comes to Duke Energy with a wealth of utility experience after serving in multiple external-facing roles for the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) for the previous 13 years, most recently as the director of marketing and community engagement where she led the company’s community engagement strategy as part of its carbon reduction initiative. She also served in various storm roles with OUC, where she focused on customer and community stakeholder communications.

As an Orange County resident, Curran has been active in local causes, including serving as chair of Women United, a Heart of Florida United Way initiative focused on supporting empowerment for women and children of ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families.

In addition to her charitable work, she is also an influential member of the local business community. She is actively involved in the Downtown Orlando Partnership and is a graduate of the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. Additionally, in 2022, Curran was chosen as one of the Orlando Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 honorees.
