PINE HILLS, FL – Oct. 30, 2023 – The Lynx Transit System marked a momentous occasion with the groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art Lynx Transfer Center, constructed by Chamber member McCree General Contractors and Architects.

In attendance were Chamber members Orange County Mayor Jerry Demmings, District 2 Commissioner Christine Moore, District 6 Commissioner Mike Scott, Pine Hills Community Council, Cindy McCree-Bodine of McCree General Contractors and Architects, Tim Haberkamp, owner of Hardee’s of Pine Hills, and Stephen Lewis, President and CEO of the WOCC.

This $15 million project is being funded by a combination of local, state, and federal funds. The 8-bay bus transfer center will include essential amenities such as a dedicated driver’s breakroom, restrooms for drivers and customers, a customer service counter, and a security office, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all users.

As part of this groundbreaking initiative, Lynx plans to install a full-access signal at Belco Drive, reconstruct Belco Drive for improved access, and extend the Pine Hills Trail through the site. These additional developments reflect a comprehensive approach to supporting both public transportation and community infrastructure.

“The Lynx Transfer Center is a transformative project that will significantly enhance the public transportation experience for West Orange County,” stated Stephen Lewis, President, and CEO of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce.

Construction for the Lynx Transfer Center is estimated to span approximately 14 months from the date of contract award. The groundbreaking marks the commencement of a forward-looking journey to provide better transit services and improved community infrastructure for the area.
