OCOEE, Fla. – The City of Ocoee will host a free Spring into Conservation event on Saturday, March 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the city’s new Unity Park located at 130 North Cumberland Avenue. Parking will be available across the street at the old City Hall site and behind the Ocoee Lakeshore Center.

There will be door prizes as well as activities for kids including face painting, art collages and sidewalk chalk. Children who participate in the art collages or sidewalk chalk art will get a Water Hero cape. One cape per child, while supplies last. Bring the family and a blanket for story time with West Oaks Library from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Ocoee residents can take home a free Florida-Friendly plant including the passion flower (the inspiration for the city’s logo), beach sunflower, firebush, live oak and little gem magnolia.Residents will need to provide proof of residency.

Several environmental organizations will offer conservation materials and giveaways including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Division; St Johns Water Management Division; Sea Turtle Conservation – UCF Marine Turtle Research; Florida Friendly Landscaping with UF/IFAS Master Gardeners and the Orange County Environmental Protection Division.
