West Orange Chamber Joins Florida Chamber in Support of Tort Reform
Tort reform has reached the Florida Capitol and it is moving forward this week. House bill 837 has already passed the committee and is scheduled to be heard by the full Florida House shortly. This week, one Florida Senate committee will hear partner bill SB 236. Once this bill moves out of all its committees, it too will be ready to be heard by the full Florida Senate.
The West Orange Chamber is partnering with the Florida Chamber to support efforts to rein in unnecessary litigation, reduce costs and prevent additional avenues to sue in Florida law. This includes, but is not limited to, addressing inflated medical damages, eliminating Florida’s reputation as a haven for “bad faith,” and ending the incentive to litigate resulting from Florida’s one-way attorney’s fees. The West Orange Chamber has signed on to the Florida Chamber’s letter to members of the Florida Legislature to advocate for Tort Reform, which will be sent out later this week.
